I'm beginning to think this is something to with texture memory and perhaps a leak in something using texture memory.
Is everyone getting the WSOD running more than 1 client? If so, when you get it, close down one of the other clients. That fixed it for me.
I think this may be a similar thing to the "change graphics settings" fix.
Something is happening to clear down GFX card memory, and it's OK.
I don't have any tools to see what's going on within the graphics card memory, but perhaps the Devs could run 2+ classic clients for a few hours.
By the way, this ALWAYS happens to me after a jump. It never just flips to WSOD flying about. However, the fix by logging the other client is instant.
Also of note, I only (heh, "only"!) have the 320Mb texture memory model of the 8800GTS.
